Function:

Calcium-activated, phospholipid-dependent, serine- and threonine-specific enzyme. Serves as the receptor for phorbol esters, a class of tumor promoters. Phosphorylates a number of proteins involved in neuronal development and is required for stress responses in neurological tissue. Modulates cerebellar neural transmission. Required for the elimination of multiple climbing fibers during innervation of Purkinje cells in developing cerebellum.
