  • Gene name:
    Rorc(Nr1f3;Rorg;Thor);
    Protein name:
    Nuclear receptor ROR-gamma;
    Alternative:
    Nuclear receptor subfamily 1 group F member 3;Nuclear receptor RZR-gamma;Thymus orphan receptor(TOR);Retinoid-related orphan receptor-gamma;
    Organism:
    Mouse (Mus musculus).
    General Annotation
    Sub Unit:
    N/A
    Function:
    Possible nuclear receptor for hydroxycholesterols, the binding of which strongly promotes coactivators recruitment. Essential for thymopoiesis and the development of several secondary lymphoid tissues, including lymph nodes. Involved in lineage specification of uncommitted CD4(+) T helper cells into Th17 cells. Regulate the expression of several components of the circadian clock (By similarity). Isoform 2 negatively regulates expression of TNFSF6/FASL and IL2 production in T-cells. It also binds to the TEA promoter and may participate in the regulation of DNA accessibility in the TCR-Jalpha locus.
