General Annotation

Sub Unit:

One of the 6 subunits forming the core-TFIIH basal transcription factor which associates with the CAK complex composed of CDK7, CCNH/cyclin H and MNAT1 to form the TFIIH basal transcription factor. Interacts with XPB, XPD, GTF2H1 and GTF2H3. Interacts with varicella-zoster virus IE63 protein.

Function:

Component of the core-TFIIH basal transcription factor involved in nucleotide excision repair (NER) of DNA and, when complexed to CAK, in RNA transcription by RNA polymerase II. The N-terminus interacts with and regulates XPD whereas an intact C-terminus is required for a successful escape of RNAP II form the promoter.
